Major Albert Logan (AL) Douthitt Retired died Sept. 4, 2019 at Timberwood Assisted Living in Midwest City at the age of 90. AL was born June 27, 1929 in Miami, OK, graduated from Miami High School in 1947, and attended OU on a track scholarship, graduating in 1951 with a degree in journalism. He then joined the Air Force serving two years before working at the Nowata Star. AL was recalled during the Cuban Crisis and remained on active duty as an information officer until he retired in 1977 from Tinker Air Force Base. He continued to reside in Midwest City for the remainder of his life.

AL married Helen Virginia Maley in Miami on February 21, 1959. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Masons, and Elks.

He is survived by his wife, his sister Mary Ann Heck, his brother Jon Douthitt and wife Sharon, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jean and Lyon Speegle.

He was preceded in death by his father Paul Douthitt, his mother and step-father Ida Mae and Bob White, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Helen and Robert Maley, and nephew Jay David Young.

Funeral service: Barnes Frederich Funeral Home in Midwest City on Tues., Sept. 10, 2019. Burial is in the military cemetery at Ft. Gibson.
