Jens Andrew Behn, son of Peter and Elisa Behn, was born at Low Moor, Iowa, Jan. 13, 1882, and passed away at Battle Creek, Iowa, at the age of 76 years, 9 months, and 17 days, on October 31, 1958.
His parents emigrated from Denmark in 1871, settling at Low Moor Iowa, until shortly after the birth of their son, Jens, when they moved to Woodbury County, near Battle Creek, Iowa. Here they engaged in farming.
On Feb. 29. 1908, he married Margret Ann Dunlop of Poynette, Wisconsin. Three children were born to them, Elizabeth and Barbara died in infancy and a son, Robert, died as a result of an accident.
While still on the farm, he enrolled in the Denison Business College and completed a 22 week business course. After farming for about 8 years, Jens entered into business in this town.
The following 45 years took him into the insurance and loan business, real estate business, hog buying, feed and grain business, and farm managing.
Survivors include his wife, Anna; 3 brothers, Peter Jr. of Omaha, Nebraska; Fred of Battle Creek; Frank of California; and 2 sisters, Amelia Anna Hendricks, Battle Creek, and Mary C. Schmidt in a Nursing Home in Lake View, Iowa, as well as, numerous other relatives.
Those who preceded him in death are 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
