Daughter of Alexander D. F. Perry and Jane Esprey, wife of Richard Henry Stanton, whom she married on September 29, 1811 in Alexandria, District of Columbia, and mother of Richard Henry, Frederick Perry, Mary Jane, Jane Perry (married Samuel Learned Gookin Sr., married Gaston Turner Raoul), William N., Matilda M., Thomas Brocchus, Rachel and John Richards Stanton.

In 1850, Harriet Stanton, aged 58, was living in Shelby, Tennessee. Living with her were her son, Frederick Stanton, aged 34, a member of Congress, his wife, Jane Stanton, aged 30, Harriet Stanton, aged 9, Alfred Stanton, aged 3 months, Infant Stanton, aged 5 months, B.H. Taylor, aged 27, a physician, A.M. Taylor, daughter, Jane Gookin, aged 30, her children, Edward Gookin, aged 4, Florence Gookin, aged 3, Samuel Gookin, aged 1, Mr. Malloy, aged 40, a gardener, E.O. Perrin, aged 30, a lawyer, Rachel Perrin, aged 22, and Catherine Perrin, aged 21.

In 1860, Harriet Stanton, aged 65, was living in Livingston, Louisiana, in the home of her son-in-law, G.T. Raoul, aged 40, a mechanic, and her daughter, Jane Raoul, aged 35 and their collective children, William G. Raoul, aged 17, Rosine Raoul, aged 15, Robert Raoul, aged 13, Mary Raoul, aged 11, Richard Raoul, aged 9, Thomas B. Raoul, aged 2, Gaston Raoul, aged 1. Edward Gookin, aged 14, Florence Gookin, aged 14, S.L. Gookin, aged 11.

In 1880, Harriet Stanton, aged 85, born in Virginia, widowed, was living at 264 Washington Street, New Orleans, La., in the home of her son-in-law, Gaston Raoul, aged 60, a manufacturer of cars, and daughter, Jane Raoul, aged 50, and their son, Turner Raoul, aged 21, an express agent, and daughter, Rosana Giffen, aged 25, and her children, Marion Giffen, aged 9, and Robbie Giffin, aged 4, daughter, Mollie Taylor, aged 20, and her husband, Benjamin Taylor, aged 57, a physician. Also living in the household were Florence Gookin, aged 25, Jane's daughter from a previous marriage, and servants, Charlotte Davis, aged 50, and Christian Nilson, aged 32.

Obituary - Stanton - At the residence of her son-in-law, G.T. Raoul, 264 Washington Street, New Orleans, July 5, 1880, at 2:45 o'clock, P.M., Mrs. Harriet Stanton, in the eighty-sixth year of her age, mother of Hon. F.P. Stanton of Washington City; of Hon. R.H. Stanton, of Maysville, Ly., and of Mrs. E.O. Perrin, of New York, a native of Alexandria, Va., for the last twenty eight years a resident of Louisiana. The remains will be interred at the family burial ground at Southern Car Works, Jackson Railroad, Louisiana. Washington (D.C. Post, Alexandria (Va.) Gazette, New York Herald, and Maysville (Ky.) "Be it Remembered, That on this day, to wit: The Sixth of July in the Year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and eighty, and the One hundred and Fifth of the Independence of the United States of America, before me, Joseph Jones, M.D., President Board of Health and Ex-Office Recorder of Births, Deaths and Marriages, in and for the Parish of Orleans, personally appeared: Dr. B.F. Taylor, a native of Tennessee, residing at 264 Washington St., who hereby declares that Mrs. Widow Harriet Stanton (white), a native of Alexandria, Virginia, aged 85 years, 4 months and 5 days, departed this life yesterday (5 July 1880) at his aforesaid residence at this city. Cause of death Senile Debility; Certificate of Dr. B.F. Taylor. This done at New Orleans in the presence of aforesaid B.F. Taylor, M.D., as also in that of Messrs. H. Perlata and O.H. Lanarge, both of this City, witnesses by me requested so to be, who have hereunto set their hands, together with me, after reading hereof, the day, month and year first above written.
