Joan Bishop Draughn Miller, 62, of Bluff City, died Monday, April 2, 2007, at her home. She was born in Lee County, Virginia, on Sunday, May 21, 1944 to the late Ted and Reba Woodard Bishop and was the widow of Edward Draughn and William Calvin "Bill" Miller. She was a graduate of Bristol Tennessee High School and East Tennessee State University, where she received her RNC degree. She retired from Bristol Regional Medical Center as a Registered Nurse following 35 years of service. She was an active member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her daughter, Vanessa Draughn Davis and her husband Michael; her grandchildren, Ashley Rae Tillison, Dayne Edward Davis and Austin Michael Davis; a sister, Marcella Buchanan and her husband John; 10 sisters-in-law, 9 brothers-in-law, 7 aunts, 3 uncles, 6 nieces, 11 nephews, and 19 cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:45 Wednesday evening, April 4, 2007, at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 8 o'clock. Rev. Steve Playl will officiate. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 11 o'clock Thursday morning in Glenwood Cemetery. Deacons of Woodlawn Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
