Daughter of Chares & Zora Smith. Wife of Sherman L Cook Sr. Mother of Samuel C Cook.

Jessie was born and raised on a homestead farm near Garfield, Washington and graduated from the University of Idaho with a BA in Education in 1939. Married to Sherman L Cook, Sr. she began her teaching career in Donnelly, Idaho. She took a "sabbatical" from teaching moving to Kellogg, Idaho in 1940 where her husband was employed as a mining engineer with Sunshine Mines. In 1942 they moved to Spokane, Washington where Sherman worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad Company. After her 3 sons (Samuel, Sherman Jr. and, Craig) all were attending school, Jessie returned from her "sabbatical" and began her 25-year high school teaching career at John Rodgers High School in Spokane, Washington retiring in 1976. Jessie was an avid bridge player and still attended weekly bridge games at the Tukwila Senior Citizen Community Center. Additionally, she considered bingo nights at Farrington Court Retirement Community in Kent, Washington a mandatory event. Jessie could be seen playing 8 bingo cards at a time! Additionally, nightly she could be found playing penny poker with her "buds" in the Bistro at Farrington Court. Jessie is preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Sr. and, her two sons Samuel and Sherman Jr. She is survived by her son Craig, her beloved Daughter – In – Laws Linda and Patty, her 5 grandchildren Sam, Amy, Doug, Brian, Jessica and, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial /Celebration of Her life will be held Friday January 27,2017 at 2:00 pm.
