Mrs. Spangler To Be Buried Here

Mrs. Jessie Washburn Spangler, of 5611 North Delaware Street, Indianapolis, died at the Methodist hospital on Tuesday. She was 84 years of age and was born near Quincy where she lived most of her life.

She was the wife of Frank Spangler who died in 1939.

Services will be held Friday at the Flanner and Buchanan Fall Creek Mortuary in Indianapolis, at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Riverside Cemetery at Spencer at 1:00 p.m.

Friends may call the mortuary at any time.

Jessie Washburn Spangler, 84, 5611 North Delaware, who died Tuesday in Methodist Hospital, was organist for services at the Methodist Church at Quincy when she was only 12.

Born at Quincy, Mrs. Spangler had lived in Indianapolis most of her life.

She attended DePauw University and Indiana State College and before her marriage taught in a one-room school near Quincy.

Until her death, Mrs. Spangler made all her own clothes; she liked gardening and was always looking for new species of flowers.

Mrs. Spangler was a member of North Methodist Church North Park Chapter of Eastern Star, Quincy Club, Minerva Club and Golden Glow Club and was a member of Queen Elizabeth Chapter, International Travel-Study Club.

She had been a member of the former St. Paul's Methodist Church. and she taught Sunday School classes there. Until the death of her husband,she sang in a church choir. Her husband, Frank C. Spangler, teller at the old Fletcher-American Bank, died in 1939.

For two years, Mrs. Spangler was president of School 41 Parent-teacher Association.

Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Flanner & Buchanan Fall Creek Mortuary with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Spencer.

Survivors are a daughter, Mary Frances Taylor; a son, Harold C. Spangler, and two grandchildren.
