Frank Albrook was born Michael Frank Alsbaugh. When he and his family moved to Iowa in 1858 he changed his name from the German Alsbaugh to the more English Albrook. He and his wife, Agnes M. Hahn, raised an extraodinary family.
Their eldest son, J. Burleigh Albrook became a well-known educator and Methodist minister. Their second son, Charles E. Albrook became a District Court Judge and Presidential Elector. One of their daughters, Emma Albrook Tilden was a pioneer in the settlement of Ames, Iowa.
A grandson, Lieutenant Frank P. Albrook, was one of the first military pilots in the Army Air Corp. Balboa Field in the Panama Canal Zone was renamed Albrook Field in his honor. Albrook Hydraulics Laboratory at Washington State University is named for another grandson.
