Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Donnie Lee Gray, age 70 of Winchester. Mr. Gray passed from this life on August 27, 2019 at his home in the arms of his family. A native of Franklin County, he was a 1968 graduate of Franklin County High School. Following his education he enlisted in the United States Army where served during the Vietnam Era. After he completed his military service he spent the next 20 years as a police officer with the Atlanta, GA police Dept. and transferring to the Atlanta Fire Dept. He retired in 2008 and returned to his native Franklin County where he made his home until his death. He was a member of the Original Church of God in Winchester and sat under the leadership and pastorate of Sister Rose Vanzant. Mr. Gray is preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Taylor and his father, Willard Gray. He leaves to cherish his memory and mourn his passing, his daughters, Tateasna Taylor (fiancé, Orlando Elliott) and Galeah Lester both of Winchester; son, Stacy Taylor also of Winchester; Frances Taylor, his lifelong partner and devoted caregiver, also of Winchester; step-daughters, Champain Lester and Teaija Stevens both of Winchester; grandchildren, Jordan Taylor, Tyler Blackwell,, Jamal Blackwell and Grady Fitzgerald Battles. The family will receive friends Sunday September 1, 2019 at the Original Church of God beginning at 12 noon. The funeral service will commence at 1 p.m. at the church with Pastor Rose Vanzant officiating. Interment will follow at Winchester City Cemetery with military honors.
