On 28 March 1928 Reuben reported his birth as 29 Dec 1847 in an attempt to claim a pension from the state of Florida. His claim was denied because there was no record of him being in Florida at the time of his supposed enlistment at age 17 and Honorable Discharge at age 18 on Sept. 27, 1865 in Madison Co. FL. Even though his family was in FL at that time because the 1870 census shows his two youngest siblings were born in FL. As you can see from the 1870 census he was only 14 yrs old in Colbert Co. AL in 1870 and would have been only 10 when he was in FL. His parents married in 1846, but the 1850 census shows they did not have any children in Sep 1850. They had 2 older children before Reuben was born in 1855. So he falsified his birth date and got caught.

Even his death certificate is messed up. His father was born in SC not AL and his mother was born in GA not SC. The below data was merged into this memorial. It is NOT accurate and I have added corrections in parentheses.Reuben Creamer was not born December 29, 1847(1851-56) in Henry County, Alabama. He was the son of Louisa (Shelley) born about 1823(1828) in South Carolina (Georgia) and John Daniel Creamer born August 18, 1828 (1825) in South Carolina.

Reuben married Maggie Matilda Yeates on June 5, 1887 in Lafayette County, Florida

Reuben Creamer served in the CSA llth Regt Infantry, Hillsborough County, Florida.(This statement is false as proven by his pension claim and denial's based on his inability to prove he was EVER in the military in Florida. As a matter of fact he went to prison twenty years earlier after his brother Daniel & sister testified against him in court for trying to pass himself off as their father and collect a pension from his father's Civil War Record. In 1928 it was discovered that the 11th Regt was actually on duty in Virginia during the dates he claimed he was with them in Florida. Also there are census records showing he could not have been born before 1850. Also if you read his pension claim dated 30 Mar 1928 he states he was 81 years old born 29 Dec 1947. If he was 81 in 1928 then he would have been 87 when he passed in 1934 not 82 as stated on his death certificate and as shown by the census. Which also proves he could not have been in the CSA llth Regt Infantry in 1864 when he was only 8 to 12 years old at the oldest. Also the April 1930 census for him in the "Poor House" shows he was 78. He would turn 79 in December, born 1851. That is still 4 years younger than he stated in 1928 on his pension claim. He was not in the Florida 11th Regt.)

Reuben was living in the County Poor Farm Home when he died in 1934 in Dover, Hillsborough County, Florida. Poor farms were county- or town-run residences where paupers (mainly elderly and disabled people) were supported at public expense (tax-supported). There were 3 dormitories at the Hillsborough County Poor Farm Home.... One for white males, one for black males and a red brick 2-story for females.
