Kay was born January 14, 1943 in Sioux City, IA. Her parents were Darvin and Evelyn (Ross) Hall. She grew up in Iowa and graduated from East High School in Sioux City in 1961. Kay spent her college years at Duchesne College in Omaha and Morningside College in Sioux City. She moved to Tempe, AZ in 1964.

Kay married Charles “Chuck” Curtis on August 7, 1971. They shared many years together until he passed away on May 29, 1997. They traveled around the world during the years Kay worked for TWA. When they were blessed with two children, Brad and Darci, Kay became a work at home mom. She managed a food program called Actively Building Child Care, Inc. for several years. It was through this program that she met some of her dearest friends.

In Kay’s early years she was an excellent ice skater for the Sioux City Figure Skating Club. She was also a life-long Girl Scout who maintained contact with other troop members. She always enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends, cards, playing games, and anything that was a little rebellious.
