Hall of Fame Professional Football Player. He played the defensive back position for the National Football League's Green Bay Packers from 1952 to 1959. He played football collegiately at the University of Texas, where he was an All-American. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the third round of the 1952 NFL Draft and went on to play for "The Pack" for eight seasons before retiring after the 1959 season. Despite having only one working eye, he had 9 interceptions during three seasons of his career and totaled 52 interceptions during his career. His nickname during his playing days was "The Hawk." He was a NFL All-Pro four times and played in four Pro Bowls (1955, 1956, 1957, 1958). He was later named to the Packers Hall of Fame. He was posthumously inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2020.
