Two Youths Die In Motorcycle Crash
One Killed Outright - Partner Passes Away Several Hours Later

ANDREW BOGDEN (21) of Buena Vista was killed instantly.

The accident occurred at 4:30pm Friday afternoon. The motorcycle on which he and Joseph Sokol were riding was headed toward Perryopolis on Route 711. When it approached the curve on the road near the Walter Lee Farm, it was speeding too fast to make the bend in the highway and ploughed into the bank. After striking the bank the motorcycle struck back to the road and smashed to its side in the center of the highway. An automobile driven by John Kirkpatrick, a resident of Flatwoods, was approaching the scene in the opposite direction, but police said the motorcycle had already passed the car and Mr. Kirkpatrick did not witness the fatal crash. Boden died instantly suffering a fractured skull and numerous body injuries when thrown off the motorcycle and onto the highway. The motorcycle came dangerously close to striking Mr. Kirkpatrick's car. He pulled his car to a stop and went back to the scene of the tragedy.

Bogden was the sole support of his ailing father, mother and three brothers and sisters. He had been employed in a mine back of one of the old Bute farms. The father was forced to quit work several months ago because of illness.
