He was born in Iredell County on July 20, 1956, the son of Mildred Morrison Sloan and the late Curtis Glen Sloan.

He was married to Andella Gardin Sloan, who survives. He was a graduate of South Iredell High School and a member of Clark's Chapel Baptist Church, however, had been attending First Antioch Interdenominational Church of Gastonia.
Mr. Sloan was employed as a driver with the Neil Medical Group.
SURVIVORS: In addition to his wife, Andella, and mother, Mildred, survivors include a son, Sheldon (Sheila) Sloan of Statesville; a step-son, Charles Edward Floyd of Statesville; a daughter, Christy Sloan of Statesville, two step-daughters, Melia (Joseph) Arthur and Alysha Floyd, both of Statesville; a sister, Melvina Sloan Ijames of Statesville; eight grandchildren, Daguan Sloan, Christopher Sloan, Haley Davidson, Nataesia Garrison, Erynn Floyd, Kayley Arthur, Jacob Hatten and Chancey Watson; father-in-law, Bishop O.E. Gardin, Sr.; mother-in-law, Geneva Gardin of Gastonia ; three brothers-in-law, Dr. O.E. (Latrica) Gardin, Jr., of Monroe, Kenneth Gardin of Charlotte, and William Anthony Gardin Sr., of Gastonia; two sisters-in-law, Jacquelyn Gardin and Rev.
