Sara Elizabeth Jackson went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 28, 2019.

Mrs. Jackson was born July 12, 1924 in Atlanta, GA daughter of the late Thomas Roberts and Miriam Hood Roberts.

She was married to her late husband, Howard Jackson, for 62 years.

Sara and Howard enjoyed watching all sporting events together. They both played softball and they met one another while playing in a softball game. Sara was a very talented seamstress and loved making clothes for her and her family for many years. Sara also loved her church, Evangel Temple, and was a faithful member for as long as she was physically able.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Evelyn and Margaret and two sisters-in-law, Gladys Plant and Vera Casteel.

She is survived by a daughter, Pat Love Phillips (Jack) of Columbus, GA, granddaughter, Jill Love Nix (Cody), great-grandson, Jesse Nix and a great-granddaughter, Sophie Nix all of LaGrange, GA. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Myrtle Johnson and Mildred Phillips; brother-in-law, Aaron Jackson; nieces, Bebe Vickers-Hartin, Lisa Patterson, Gere Taylor, Juette Person, Jeanette Boulter, Julie McCrary, nephew, Aaron Jackson, Jr. and other relatives and friends. A special love and thank you to her best friend, Hazel Clower and to caregivers, Tiny Green and Pam Pickard. Flowers will be accepted or contributions in Sara’s memory can be made to Evangel Temple or your favorite charity.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Reverend Paul Thomas officiating. A private family interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
