Final rites for Ancil E. (Duck)
Ayres. 66, of Marion were
Friday Burial in Grant
Memorial Park Cemetery there.
He died Tuesday of last week
at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born in Monroe Township of
Carroll County, he was the son of
John E and Emma Hamm
Ayres. His marriage was to
Zenobia Sparks, who survives
He and his family operated the
Ayres Oil Co in Marion, where he
had moved in 1933 from Flora, for
many years He was associated
with same company in Flora and
had retired in 1966 as a retailer in
the gasoline and oil business.
A veteran of World War II, he
served in the U. S. Army Medical
Corps. He was a member of the
Marion Legion Post and of the
Bringhurst Methodist Church.
Other survivors are two sons,
Jim and John both of Marion;
two sisters, Mrs Charles Ross of
Bringhurst, and Mrs. Richard
Wood of Clarks Hill, and six
grandchildren.
Three brothers and a sister
preceded him in death.
Rev Samuel Keller of Rt. 1,
Bringhurst assisted at the
funeral.
