His burial place is in question. He died in New York City.

There appears to be no reference to his burial in Christ Church but his wife is buried here and he was active in the church, as a warden for two years and paying rent for a pew. According to the 1962 Pierrepont book by Abbot Low Moffet, Townsend White was loyal to the British and died in New York City at the home of his daughter at the age of 87 so his place of burial is in question.

American Forebears of ANNA MARIA CONSTABLE
"Townsend White was born near Tenby Wales. His family was prominate in that neighborhood. He came to America early in life, sailing from Bristol, and settled in Philadelphia where he became a well known merchant. He owned several sea-going vessels. He was a warden of Christ Church from 1749-1750 and 1765-1766. He always used his crest and coat of arms and remained loyal to his king during the revolution. ANNA MARIA CONSTABLE [dt. of William Constable and his wife Ann White] noted in 1842 that she had a perfect recollection of her grandfather; that he was beloved by all that new him, and that he was a pious and excellent man, but that he lived to such extreme old age (he died at the age of 87) that he lost his faculties yet even then he was never known to be the least impatient. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Edgar, whose house was on Wall Street, next to that of his brother-in-law, William Kerin Constable.
