Naaman H. Burkhead, 84, of 107 Chipping Way, died Monday at Baptist Hospital East. He was a native of Willisburg, a faculty member for the University of Louisville, an ophthamologist, an Army veteran of World Wars I and II and a member of the American Medical Association.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jane Burkhead-Burke of Campbellsburg; a son, William K. Burkhead of Farmington, N.Y.; three sisters, Mrs. Russell Jenkins and Mrs. Herbert Coulter, both of Wlllisburg. and Mrs. Elizabeth Best of Danville; three brothers. Raymond Burkhead of Mount Washington, Omer Burkhead of Sanford, Fla., and James Burkhead of Tatum Springs; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Douglass Boulevard Christian Church, 2005 Douglass Blvd., with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation at McAfee Funeral Home, 3928 Bardstown Road, will be after 10 a.m. Tuesday. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Kentucky Society to Prevent Blindness.
