MERIDIAN - Miss Ada Holladay. 76, retired Meridian school teacher and Junior college librarian, died at the King's Daughters and Sons rest home here at 6:15 a.m. Sunday. Born in Kemper county, Miss Ada moved to Meridian with her family in 1906. She received her B.A. and B.S. degrees from Meridian Woman's College and later received B.S. degree in Library Science from George Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn. Miss Holladay began her teaching career in the fall of 1909 in Greene County, Miss. and later taught and became principal of Poplar Springs School here. When the Poplar Springs school was taken into the city school system in 1928, she became mathematics and history teacher at Kate Griffin Junior High school. Miss Ada was named librarian at the Meridian High school: and junior college in 1934, a position she held until her retirement in 1958. She was a member of the Twentieth Century Literary Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, retired teachers association and Poplar Springs Methodist church where she taught Sunday School class for 40 years and served as church pianist for many years. Miss Holladay was a former member of the Meridian and American Library Associations, Association of Junior Colleges and the American Association of University Women. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Frank Hulett, and Mrs. Inda Curtis, both of Meridian. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Stephens Funeral home with the Rev. Herman Tillman officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
