Wolla died Friday, June 1, 2018 at Ashley Nursing Home.
Burial will be in Ashley Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Wolla Pauline Odenbach, daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Wiest) Odenbach was born April 4, 1912 at Greenway, SD. This is where he grew up and attended country school. She graduated from Eureka Public High School and then attended college for two years.
Wolla was united in marriage to Arthur Sayler on April 27, 1932 in the Reformed Church parsonage in Zeeland, ND. They made their home in Venturia, ND. In the early 1950’s Wolla became an Assistant Mail Carrier and continued in this job for 20 years. She retired in the early 1970’s. She and her husband moved to Ashley in 1994. They were members of Zion Lutheran Church.
Wolla enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She baked beautiful Wedding cakes for many couples over the years. Wolla will always be remembered for taking care of everyone. “She was the Martha”. Family never left her home after a visit without a robust care package.
Grateful for having shared Wolla’s life are her daughter, Georgia (Ronald) Brosz of Rapid City, SD; four grandchildren, Joel (Jane) Schock of West Fargo, ND, Dawn (Kevin Phillipp) Schock of San Pedro, CA, Rhonda (Phillip) Toft of Brookings, SD and Paul (Tina) Brosz of Rapid City, SD; five great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Wolla in death were her parents, husband, Arthur (5-28-2008), daughter, Jeannine Schock, seven sisters and five brothers.
Casketbearers will be Charles Dockter, Jon Castle, Eric Toft, Joel J. Schock and Lisa Schock.
