Leo Viron Phillips Jr., 63, of Gainesville, was born on March 25, 1956 in Brownfield to Leo Viron Phillips Sr. and Billie Louise (Kilpatrick) Phillips. He passed away on August 16, 2019 in Gainesville.

Leo married Sarah Wise on April 8, 1974 in Gainesville. He worked in the oil field for many years in West Texas, Oklahoma, and Montana eventually working his way up to tool pusher. He later found work with American National Insurance, so he could be home with his family. He dedicated 30 years to the company, and retired at the end of 2017.

He is survived by his wife Sarah of 45 years; son Chad Phillips and his partner Shayla; son Trey Phillips and his partner Emmalee; nine wonderful grandchildren who he adored with all his heart - Shania, Robert, Leo, Landon, Dominic, Isaac, Raleigh, Roman, and Mia; special friends Joseph and Crystal Crisp, Nathan Mollenhour and Victoria Crisp; sister-in-law Rebecca Alford and her husband Randy; and brother-in-law Alan Comer and his partner Danna.

Leo was preceeded in death by his parents; stepfather Warren Scarber; and grandmother Estelle Casey.

Funeral services: Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Davis officiating. Burial is in the Fairview Cemetery.
