Verna Bontrager, 92, of Goshen, died Thursday, August 15, 2019, at Goshen Hospital.

She was born April 14, 1927 in Nappanee to Samuel C. and Amanda (Borkholder) Chupp.

On February 3, 1949 she married Gideon J. Bontrager. He died September 23, 2008.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen (Bert) Stutzman of Goshen; two sons, Gene A. (Cinde) Bontrager of Goshen and James W. (Kris) Bontrager of Bourbon; daughter-in-law, Norma Bontrager of Goshen, nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and four sisters, Anna Byler, Barbara Burkholder and Alma Stutzman, all of Nappanee and Elizabeth (Ralph) Miller of Goshen.

Along with her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by two sons, Paul L. and Larry G. Bontrager; seven brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Bontrager enjoyed baking and quilting. For many years she volunteered at The Depot. She was a member of Mount Joy Conservative Mennonite Church.

Visitation will be Monday, August 19, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, funeral service at Mt. Joy Conservative Mennonite Church, Goshen.

Burial will follow at Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen.
