Anna Zeigler, 87, died peacefully in her sleep on June 21st. She was born November 4th, 1919 in Mannheim, Germany. In 1947 she became a war bride, marrying Frederick Zeigler, a US Army soldier. Frederick retired from the Army in 1961 and the family settled in Steilacoom, WA. Anna became active in community affairs in the town she called her "Little Heaven." She was instrumental in the building of the town's community center, helped to organize the Steilacoom food bank, and became chairman of the Steilacoom Town Clock Association. Anna was given many volunteer awards including Steilacoom Citizen of the Year 1997. Anna was preceded in death by Frederick, her loving husband of 58 years, on November 7th, 2005. Anna is survived by her two sons, Eric and Martin. Anna will be placed next to her beloved "Papa" at the Tahoma National Cemetery. Memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the Steilacoom Community Center, 2301 Worthington St., Steilacoom, WA. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or the Steilacoom Food Bank. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial Center, 253-566-1008.
