James Wesley (Wes) Harris was born in Fairplay, Fannin County, Georgia. He was the son of John H. Harris & Lucinda Jane (Lindy) Patterson. In 1880 he lived in Notala, Cherokee County, NC. By 1893, James returned to Georgia & married Sarah A. (Caroline) Franklin 14 Sept 1893, in Gilmer County. The couple lived in Mountaintown, Gilmer County, GA with their children (Maude, John Henry, Ola, Marion, and Stella). They relocated to Franklin, Simpson County, KY after the 1910 Gilmer County, GA census. James died 21 Sept 1918 in Franklin, Simpson County, KY at the age of 42. His widow, Sarah, died in 1922.
