V. Ruth Stroud, 72, of Farlington, died at 12:51 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2019 in the Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
She was born October 6, 1946 at Stockton, Missouri, a daughter of Jimmie and Mary (Lake) Hunt. She grew up and attended schools in Stockton.
Ruth married Roger R. Stroud on January 8, 1979 in Miami, Oklahoma. Roger preceded her in death on May 28, 2006.
Ruth and her husband were caretakers at Elm Creek Lake near Hiattville before moving to Farlington in 1996.
Survivors are her three children, five step-children, and nineteen grandchildren. Numerous great-grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Teresa Stroud-Wagner, in 1986; a grandson, Derrick Cole Brandell, in 1997, and a brother, Gene Hunt.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Brian Studer officiating. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from Noon until service time. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
