Obituary

David R. Kershaw, 76, died Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Atrium Health Pineville in Charlotte, NC. He was the beloved husband of Bonnie A. (Holt) Kershaw with whom he celebrated their 52nd anniversary on October, 15th 2018. 

Born in Cranston, RI, the son of the late Philip L. and Doris L. (Kennedy) Kershaw, he had lived in Narragansett, RI, Jefferson Twp., NJ and Ocean Pines, MD, before moving to South Carolina in 2013. 

He was a graduate of Warwick Veterans Memorial High School in Warwick, RI and studied at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. He was a United States Air Force veteran who served from 1960 through 1964. He worked as a Telecommunications Engineering Manager employed by AT&T and Tyco Submarine Systems for 32 years before retiring in 2000.

David enjoyed traveling the world for both work and pleasure. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports. He enjoyed fishing, loved his boat and spending time near the ocean. He liked to take long walks with their golden retriever, Angel and he was a BIG fan of the New England Patriots. Above all, David was very proud of his family and loved them all dearly. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, caring brother, awesome grandpa and all around Good Man. 

Aside from his wife, he is survived by his son Mark David Kershaw (wife Brooke) and their children Miller & Bristol Kershaw of Tega Cay, SC; his daughter Beth Ann Mahoskey and her children Faith, Raymond & David of Carmel, NY; his sister Joyce Beagan of Coventry, RI and her daughter Brenda Boyce of Greenwood, SC. 

His funeral service will be held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI on Tuesday, August 13 at 12:30 PM. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 11:00 – 12:30 PM. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
