Born in Cranston he was a son of the late William and Eva (Leadley) Kershaw. He served in the US Army Company A 277th Engineer Combat Construction Battalion during WWII in Central Europe, Ardennes and Rhineland. Construction Battalion during WWII.
He was a Cable Splicer Technician at New England Telephone Co. for 36 years retiring in 1982, and was a Past President of the Telephone Pioneers.
Mr. Kershaw was a member of Rhodes Lodge #44 F. & AM now affiliated with harmony Lodge # 9 F. & AM and served as Worshipful Master of Rhodes Lodge in 1982. He was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Providence serving on their Hospitallers Committee, a member of Harmony Royal Arch Chapter #15, Rhode Island Shriners where he was a Past President of the Knights of Mecca, a member of the Gaspee Order #99 Swords of Bunker Hill, a member of the Masonic Veterans Association of Rhode Island. Mr. Kershaw was a member of Shawomet Baptist Church of Warwick and was a former Moderator, Head Deacon and Usher.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son David R. Kershaw of Ocean Pines, MD his daughter Joyce L. Beagan of Coventry, three grandchildren, Brenda Boyce, Bethann Mahosky and Mark Kershaw, five great grandchildren, Miller Kershaw, Bristol Kershaw, Faith Mahosky, Katelyn Boyce and Andrew Boyce. He was the brother of the late John E. Kershaw, Louise Richards and Ethel Pugsley.
