From Jackson's Hole Courier (Jackson, WY) - Thursday, December 7, 1944:
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 6 for Robert Nethercott, Sr., pioneer resident of Jackson Hole, who passed away suddenly at his home here Saturday, December 2.
Robert Silas Nethercott, son of Alfred and Ida M. Nethercott, was born at Corning, California on April 23, 1888. Little is known of his early boyhood except that at the age of ten years he was baptized into the LDS Church. Over fifty-five years ago he came with his parents of Jackson Hole. For many years the family lived at Wilson, Wyoming where he attended school. Approaching the age of manhood, he took up the professional of barbering, operating his own shops at Wilson and Jackson. He followed this trade until 1929 when as accident to his hand compelled him to abandon his business. He then took up work as a handyman helping carpenters and doing painting and decorating until the outbreak of the present war when he entered was work as a ship fitter. On November 27 he returned to Jackson from Seattle, Washington (where he was employed) for a visit with his family.
On March 17, 1914 he was married to Ethel Nickerson of Driggs, Idaho and to this union they following children were born: Robert A. of Jackson, Ida Rosemond, who passed away in infancy, Moy E. of Ogden, Utah, Ethal F. Wilson of Jackson, and George J, who is now serving in the military service of our country.
Bob, as he was better known to his friends, was a firm believer in Union Labor and at the time of his death held membership in the AF of L. Altoh. Sometimes appearing a trifle radical in his beliefs, he was usually able to give substantial reasons for them.
Besides his wife and children, he is survived by four grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph a., now living in California, and Reigo of Wilson; three sisters, Mrs. Sylvester Cheney of Wilson, Mrs. Annie Grisamer of Jackson, and Mrs. Ruby Markham of Driggs, Idaho.
Services were held at the LDS Church in Jackson. Interment was in the Wilson Cemetery.
