Lee Trinkle Lawson, Sr., dedicated servant of the Lord and child of God, was unexpectedlycalled to his eternal home on July 17, 2017. He was predeceased by his dear nephew, Lucas Lawson, and former wife and mother of his son, Carol Lawson. Lee was a native son of Roanoke, born to Greene and Helen Sue Lawson on January 18, 1944. He was the grandson of Gov. and Mrs. E. Lee Trinkle. Family was of the utmost importance to Lee. He had an unwavering devotion to his mother, Helen Sue, and to his grandmother "Tinkie." He was an extraordinary father who shared an enduring bond with his son. Lee. Jr. They shared a love of sports and a special love of golf and spent many wonderful times together on the Roanoke Country Club greens. Lee''s heart was totally committed to his wife, Paulette, who he married on August 28, 1998, in the chapel of a quaint country church. They shared a steadfast and true love that grew deeper and sweeter with each passing year and will endure evermore. For over forty years Lee has been a respected businessman and commercial real estate broker. He had an exceptional ability in envisioning the development potential of land. Old Mill Forest, Harbor Ridge and Diamond Crest Estates were among the communities he developed. In 1986 Lee and Paulette established Lawson Associates, Inc., Realtors. Lee had the joy of welcoming his son. Lee. Jr., into the business in recent years. Lee was a man of deep faith who lived out his Christian beliefs in his everyday life in the community and through his dedication to his church. Lee came to a saving knowledge of Christ through a Gideon Bible in his adult years. His spiritual journey led him to a newly formed church that was meeting in a rented facility. Eventually the congregation had adequate finances to search for a building site and construct their church. Lee located the land, drew plans, engaged subcontractors and oversaw the construction of the simple yet sweet Garst Mill Presbyterian Church on it''s current site. He faithfully served the church in virtually every capacity including elder, deacon, usher, treasurer, and building and grounds chairman Lee treasured the love and friendship of his church and they cherished him in return. The Lord has called our precious loved one home but in exchange leaves a priceless gift of memories of this true southern gentleman who blessed us in ways too numerous to count. We are thankful for the time God gave us with Lee and for the legacy of his well lived life. He will be missed as much as he was loved which is immeasurable. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 21, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Garst Mill Presbyterian Church (corner of Willetta Drive and Garst Mill Rd. S.W.) with Rev. Wayne Buchtel, Rev. Rodney King and Rev. Elbert Lee Trinkle officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. Arrangements by Oakey’s Roanoke Chapel.
