Dorothy Mae "Nanny" Powell McGhee, born May 8, 1935 (age 84) of LaFollette went home to be with the Lord on Saturday August 3, 2019, peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long battle with lung disease. Nanny enjoyed many things including sewing gospel music, bird watching and especially working in her yard and beautiful flower beds and spending time with her family, Dorothy was a member of West LaFollette Church and a caregiver to many.



Preceded in death husband Columbus McGhee, parents Maynard and Bonnie Isley Powell Sr. brothers William Gilbert, Horace Odevah, Robert Lee and Maynard M. Powell Jr. sisters Mary Ann Woods, Cinda Lorene Draughn and Linda Louise Powell, special nephew Dougie Draughn.





Survived by brother Bobby Joe Powell, of Jacksboro, sisters Claudette Love of Jacksboro and Bonnie Cate Gross of Knoxville, ex husband Marshall Daugherty, host of nieces, nephews and special friends and loved ones including her caregivers special niece Catie Wilson "Sissy", great nephew Jordon Wilson and niece Melissa Brown. Special thanks to the Staff of Caris Hospice of Knoxville.



Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm on Monday August 5, 2019 in chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home, funeral service will at 7:00 with Rev. Sampson Ridenour officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9:00 am on Tuesday August 6, 2019 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home and go in procession to Indian Creek cemetery for a 10:00
Dorothy is buried next to her nephew whom she raised. Doug's mother is Cinda Powell Draughn who is buried directly behind him.
