Patsy Cate Swaffar of Quitman was born on June 30, 1930 in Lonoke County and went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2019. She was the daughter of Claude and Elsie White Cate of Wattensaw.

She was the widow of the late J.O. Swaffar Jr.. They met in Arkansas State Teacher's College (UCA)and were married for 40 years. During J.0.'s coaching years, Patsy was his scorekeeper, chauffer for his players, late night dinner cook, and biggest supporter.

They had one daughter, Sharron Swaffar Cato and son-n-law, Dicky Cato. Patsy doted on her two grandchildren, Keely Mulliniks and Karly Wilcox but she was absolutely nuts for her great granddaughter, Silver Mulliniks. She would have no doubt been equally in love with her great grandson, Roan Ross Wilcox who was born in the last seven months of her illness.

Patsy was a home economics teacher and retired from the Quitman School District. After retirement, she served one term on the Quitman School Board. She loved her school.

Patsy was a charter member of the Pines Baptist Church in Pearson where she served as Church Treasure for many years. She loved the Lord and she love Pines Church. She loved attending Friday night singings, cooking for potlucks, and any other church activity.

Family was important to her. She enjoyed having her family and friends at her house and preparing large amounts of food. The ping pong boards would go up on the pool table and everyone would sit around and eat. Many family members have expressed the memory of large Thanksgiving meals at her house. Later that evening, Patsy would make homemade corndogs while the younger generation would put up her Christmas lights. It was a bribe that worked for many years.

Patsy loved watching her granddaughters participate in any sport and she was able to watch Silver play in the early years of her illness. She was so proud. She was an avid Razorback fan and in early years her and J.O. attended many games.

After moving to Seven Springs Rehab and Health in 2012, people begin calling her the social butterfly. She loved church services, bingo, singing, drinking coffee, and working puzzle books. Many have told the family what a blessing she was to the staff and other residents. She always had a smile, a song, and pat on the rear, if you turned your back to her.

Patsy sang to the end of her life. Even when she forgot names and faces and times in her life, she remembered hymns. Her favorite was Victory in Jesus.

Patsy had written out how she wished her funeral would be handled. Music was very important to her. She listed the names of the pall bearers

Patsy is survived by her daughter, Sharron Cato and Dicky, her granddaughters, Keely Mulliniks and Silver of Quitman, and Karly Wilcox, Spencer and Roan of Choctaw. She is survived by one sister, Katie Moon from Wilson, one brother-n-law, Billee Joe Swaffar of Quitman, and many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

She will be buried by her husband in the Pearson Cemetery.

She will be missed.
