Sarah was born August 9, 1935 to William Thomas Thompson and Minnie Thompson. She graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1953. On August 14, 1954, at the age of 20, she married Earl Charles McCormick at the Algoa Baptist Church. Together they had three sons, Kenneth Earl, Charles Thomas, and Joel Allan. Sarah was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and entertaining family and friends. She spent many years taking care of others. Her home was always open. Anyone could stop by and be greeted with a smile, good company, and a home cooked meal with a side of Blue Bell Ice Cream. She was very protective and proud of her sons and grandchildren. In her eyes they could do no wrong. She was a giving and loving person who was an active member of Northway Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Santa Fe Area Historical Foundation.
Sarah is survived by her son Charles McCormick, wife Susan; her son Joel McCormick, wife Molly; granddaughter Blake, husband Kevin Safley; great grandsons Jax and Jett; daughter in law Shelly McCormick; grandson Robert, wife Lauren; grandson Matthew, wife Amber; great grandsons Bryce and Grant; granddaughter Kayley, fiancé Jacob; grandson Nathan. She is also survived by her siblings Billie Area, Bill Thompson, and David Thompson. Sarah is preceded in death by her husband Earl Charles McCormick; son Kenneth McCormick; grandson Jacob McCormick, and sister, Dorothy MacQueen.
The absence of Sarah’s spirit will be felt by those who loved her. We are grateful for the time we spent with her, and we will forever cherish the memories with our mother and grandmother.
