“Death came Sunday to Mrs. Margaret E. Ballah, aged 92. Mrs. Ballah, widow of Amos Ballah, died at her home west of Covington at 10 o’clock Sunday night. Death was due to infirmities of old age.
She was born April 13, 1844, in Vermillion County, daughter of Thomas and Phoebe Oliphant.
Surviving are two daughters, Gertrude Ballah, at home, and Mrs. Lena Murrin, Veedersburg, a son, John Edgar Ballah, Danville, Illinois, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Tuesday at the residence, the Rev. B.M. Winte, Methodist church pastor of Perrysville, officiating. Burial was made in the Mound cemetery at Covington.” – August 13, 1936
