COLUMBIA — Services for Gordon E. Whitten Sr. will be at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Riser & Son with the Revs. Jim Goodman and Charles Lutrick officiating. Burial will be in Old Bethel Cemetery, Clarks.

Whitten, 76, of Grayson died Friday in St. Francis Medical Center, Monroe.

He was a retired redwood timber faller. He was a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church. He was a lifelong resident of Caldwell Parish. He was a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Whitten of Grayson; one son, Gordon E. Whitten Jr. of Grayson; one daughter, Glenda Wyant of La Grange, Texas; two brothers, R.C. Whitten of Monroe and Trowley Whitten of Grayson; one sister, Clellon Blue of Vicksburg, Miss.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Harold Blue Jr., Godfrey Whitten, Jeff Wyant, Ronnie Wyant, Curtis Childress and Joe Kranvek Jr.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of services today in the funeral home.
