George Henry Perkins (May 17, 1929 ~ July 28, 2019)
George Henry Perkins, 90, of Hillsboro, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro, Texas.
Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2019, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors.
Born on Friday, May 17, 1929, in Dawson, Texas, he was the son of Henry Clay Perkins (April 3, 1893 - October 26, 1972, age 79) and Nettie (Mandrell) Perkins (November 13, 1897 – June 27, 1975, age 77).
During the Korean War, he served his country in the United States Army. For 17 years, George was a police officer for the cities of Ennis, Corsicana, and Hillsboro, before starting his second career at LTV Aerospace & Defense for 28 years. George worked in LTV's Avionics Section back in the 1960s through the 1980s. He worked on the XC-142 and A-7 aircraft avionics, and on the cruise missile proposal. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech, and as his co-worker Dick Jeske said, "a hell-of-an-engineer".
On Wednesday, September 16, 1953, George was united in marriage to Bettye L. Keen, and she preceded him in death on Monday, January 26, 1998 at the age of 63.
George was a devoted husband, and a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
George was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro.
Also preceding him in death were his parents and a son, George Stephen (Stephen) Perkins on January 14, 2017, at the age of 62.
Survivors include: his children -- Juanita (Nita) Williams, Joseph Duane Perkins, and Jason Todd Perkins and wife, Loretta; brother Lonnie Perkins; two sisters -- Gayle Perkins and Louise Perkins; grandchildren -- Heather Amis, Jeremy Amis and wife, Kara, Brittney Perkins, Brandon Perkins, Seslee Lara, Sydnee Kalbow, Shelby Perkins, Jordan Perkins, and Morgan Perkins; and great-grandchildren -- Skyelar, Kaydence, Makenzie, Connor, Jayla, Kinslee, Paisleigh, Gage, and Kaylee.
