Obituary for Lynne Connelly Brown
Lynne Connelly Brown, 63, of Union Grove, passed peacefully Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Gordon Hospice House.
Born April 24, 1956 in Iredell County, she was the oldest daughter of the late Ralph Brown and Lenette Murphy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nine aunts and uncles and her very special nephew, Joe Holland.
Lynne was a graduate of Mitchell Community College. In her youth, she lived in Morocco, N. Africa, Okinawa, Japan and California. Her love of travel took her to places of Tijuana, Cabo San Lucas, Cozumel and Jamaica.
Lynne was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 2031 and Zion Baptist Church where she attended and volunteeed at Vacation Bible School.
Her interests included bowling, tennis, billiards and camping. She traveled to National Bowling Tournaments in Atlanta, GA and Reno, NV. While in Nevada, she became a contestant on The Price is Right as a finalist in the Showcase Showdown.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister; Debra B. Green (Jim), of Louisburg, NC along with her niece Samantha L. Kinney and nephew, Michael C. Green. She is also survived by her Aunt Lura Hoots of Lewisville, NC and Patty Holland of Union Grove, NC. A host of cousins also survive. Special mention to Betty Bennett (David), Kim Johnson and Brenda Stokes.
Altogether, Lynne worked for over 35 years at Lydall, Thermal/Acoustical in Hamptonville, NC with very special friends Bob (Janet) Carmon, Brenda Mathis, Sue Carlton and Rick Soloman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Zion Baptist Church in Union Grove, with Rev. Joey Tomlin officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 9:30 am to 10:45 am prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Zion Baptist Church, 714 Union Grove Road, Union Grove, NC 28689, or to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625
