Roena Adams, daughter of Albert Hosea and Grace Eugene (Dant) Snethen was born June 3, 1927 at Mount Ayr, Iowa. Roena attended and graduated from Mount Ayr Community School in 1945. Roena was an accomplished band Majorette. She was very talented at twirling the baton.
On August 4, 1946, Roena was united in marriage to Calvin Clayton Adams in Troy, Kansas. They became parents to Steven Clayton, Beverly Jean, and Richard Roe. Roena and Calvin were soon to celebrate 73 years of marriage. Roena was a devoted wife, mother and mother-in-law. Her love for Calvin was evident to all as she was a true caregiver for him. Roena and Calvin loved to dance, and they enjoyed the Monday night dances at the American Legion. She enjoyed golfing with Calvin, and as Calvin’s hearing and eyesight diminished, she was the play-by-play announcer for all of the Cardinal baseball games. Roena was an excellent cook; especially her chicken and noodles. She loved collecting chicken & rooster items. For Roena, her favorite time was anything family oriented. She loved the weekend cookouts and seeing her grandkids. She enjoyed sewing and crafting with her daughter, Jeanie. Roena was an avid bowler and reader. She loved playing cards; with Liverpool, Rummey, and Solitaire her favorite card games. After Calvin passed away on June 11, 2019, Roena moved into Clearview Estates.
Roena passed away July 25, 2019 at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Calvin; daughter Beverly Garris; sisters Mildred Vosler, Mary Gunter, Kathleen Pollock, Vera Liermann, Vesta Gibson and Ona Snethen; brothers Rex Snethen and Joe Snethen.
