He was born May 12, 1926 in Rienzi, Alcorn Co., MS, to the late Mauldin Rinehart and Mae (Hudson) Rinehart.
He was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church.
James served in the US Navy during WWII.
He was retired farmer and also the Alcorn Co. Third District.
Jim Whit was a man who didn’t have any bad word to say about anyone, he was dedicated to God, family and his country.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Maxine Clifton and Elizabeth Mayrene Atkins.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years Mary Opal (Kinchen) Knight-Rinehart, daughter of Hobart G. Kinchen and Ida M. (Horton) Kinchen, married December 21, 1985 in McNairy County, TN; nephews, Steven Atkins, William Tom (Enrica James) Atkins; great nephew, Bill Atkins: stepchildren, Sherry (Perry) Dickey, Gary (Robbie) Knight; step grandchildren Chris Knight, Josh (Toni) Dickey, Jordan (Jessica) Dickey; host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers Gary Knight, Perry Dickey, Bert Mills, Larry Hudson, Steven Atkins, Chris Knight, Josh Dickey, Jordan Dickey, Phillip Brawner.
Honorary Pallbearer, Gerald Monroe.
