Lorrie Burns, age 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, June 25th in Glenview. Lorrie was the second of four children born in Daleville, Mississippi to Lawrence and Alice Pauline Hurst in 1932. She moved with her family to Lincoln Park in Chicago and attended Waller High School. Lorrie met Edward J. Burns and they were married at the Armitage Avenue Methodist Church in 1951 and remained forever devoted to each other. In 1956 they moved to Glenview where they raised their family. Lorrie was the loving mother of three sons and lived a full and beautiful life dedicated to her family, her many friends and neighbors, her church and the charitable organizations to which she belonged, including the National TTT Society, dedicated to the benefit of young girls. She brought enthusiasm and indomitable optimism to everything she touched. Lorrie is preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother Lawrence and two grandchildren Max and Sarah. Lorrie is survived by her husband Edward, brother John and sister Charlotte, her sons Michael and his wife Sharel, Thomas and his wife Mi Sook and Richard, her grandchildren, Renee, Justine, Jenna, Rachel, and great grandchildren Joshua and Chirstopher, and her many nieces and nephews. Memorial visitation will be held Friday, July 8, 2016 from 2 pm until the time of the service at 3 pm at Glenview United Methodist Church, 727 Harlem Ave., Glenview. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Leukemia Research Foundation, 191 Waukegan Road Ste 105, Northfield, IL 60093 or Glenview United Methodist Church, 727 Harlem Ave., Glenview, IL 60025.
