Thomas emigrated to the US from Bedwas, Wales about 1876. He moved to Fremont Co. CO. about 1880 and married Annie Morris shortly thereafter. They had seven children, Mary Elizabeth, Thomas Jr., Lillian Pearl, Matthew Albert, Catherine, Charles and Morris. Charles and Morris died as children and are buried with their parents in Greenwood Cem. Thomas Sr. worked the mines in CO. for at least 25 years as I have a gold pin given to him for 25 years service. He also worked as a prison guard and ran a ranch at 12 Mile Park. He had come from a long line of Coal miners in Wales and had worked the mines over there as a child and young man. He had married in Wales and his wife and young child had died shortly before he emigrated. He had two brothers that also came to the US and one John had lived for a short while in Fremont Co. CO. before moving to MI. The other Samuel settled in IN. An uncle named John settled in IA. Two of his other brothers moved to Australia and worked the mines there. Researching this family I have found distant cousins in Australia and Wales and we have started a Yahoo group for the surname Cobley. All Cobley researchers are invited to join.
