William "Bill" Marshall Pulliam was born to William Haskell Pulliam and Matilda White Pulliam on April 8, 1849 in Collin County, Texas. His family moved to Uvalde, TX around 1846. His parents had 12 children, which Bill was the fifth child, 3rd son. They were 9 sons and 3 daughters.

In his early youth, Bill had made a number of trips "up the trail" and had served briefly with Capt. J.S. NcNeels, Texas Rangers Company stationed in Alice, TX, fighting the Mexican Revolutionists.

Bill married Minerva “Kate” Catherine McKinney on March 3, 1872. He worked at the Pulliam Ranch in Uvalde with his family until late 1880s.

Bill and Kate had five children. Mary, Rozell, Jennie, William, Cora, and Joseph. They settled along the northern side of the Chisos Mountains (now in Big Bend National Park).

William Marshall Pulliam was laid to rest next to his daughter, Mary M. Pulliam-Roberts. There is no marker.
William in Plot 43A, Mary in Plot 43B, Husband Wesley Roberts in Plat 43C and William's wife, Kate, in Plot 43D. There is no marker.
