John Wayne "Buddy" Smith, age 60 of Decherd, died June 12 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center. He was born in Franklin County to Roy William and Anesta Rose Smith. He was a farmer and was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Neva June Smith of Decherd; sons, Benton Carter Smith and Paul Douglas Smith, both of Decherd; grandchildren, Ashely Channing Smith, Benton Carter Smith, Jr., and Emily Braidon Smith, all of Decherd; brothers, Charles D. (and his wife, Anna Carol) Smith of Providence community, and Roy (and his wife, Clementine) Smith of Alto community; a sister (and her husband, Thomas) Swann of Decherd; and several nieces and nephews. Service was held June 14 at Watson-Gamble Chapel with Rev. Archibald officiating. Interment was in Franklin Memorial Gardens.
