Dorothy Smith Swann, age 85 of Decherd, passed away Sunday July 6, 2014. A 1948 graduate of Franklin County High School, she worked for the Selective Service from 1952 until the Winchester office closed in 1970. She later worked in real estate with John Smith. She was of the Methodist faith having worshipped at Alto United Methodist Church and for many years at Decherd United Methodist Church where she was an active member. She was a loyal follower, fan and supported of all local baseball teams and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. Mrs. Swann is preceded in death by her mother, Anesta Rose Smith and her father, Roy W. Smith, Sr. who served as Franklin County Sheriff for three consecutive terms. She is survived by her husband of 65 years of Decherd; daughter, also of Decherd; two sons, both of Decherd; two brothers, also of Decherd; sister-in law, June Garner Smith of Decherd; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Wednesday July 9, 2014 with Rev. Faye Tucker, Rev. Bratton Tucker and Rev. Kevin Marston officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens with friends and family members serving as pallbearers. For those who so desire, memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Decherd United Methodist Church, 301 E. Main St., Decherd, TN 37324.
