Death claimed Dennis L. Dickinson, 73, of Pioneer, at 7:30 p.m. July 19 in the Veterans Administration hospital in Jackson, Miss. Well-known throughout the parish, Mr. Dickinson served as a rural mail carrier for the Pioneer post office before he retired in 1963 with 42 1/2 years of service.

Last rites were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday from the First National Funeral Home chapel here with Dr. William Krueger, pastor of the Pioneer Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Oak Grove cemetery. Masonic rites were observed at the graveside.

A native of Winn parish, Mr. Dickinson had resided in West Carroll since 1901 and in Pioneer since 1921. He was a member of the Pioneer Methodist church, the Macon Ridge Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and was a past master of Pioneer Lodge No. 340, F & AM. He was a veteran of World War One and had served as commander of Catron-Kelly post No. 53, American Legion.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Blanche Dickinson, of Pioneer; a daughter, Mrs. Blanche D. Bankston of Baton Rouge; a son, Charles T. Dickinson, of Houma; a sister, Mrs. C. A. Butler, of Oak Grove; three brothers, Lester Dickinson, of Oak Grove; Carroll Dickinson, of Weatherford, Texas, Arthur Dickinson, of Louisville, Ky.; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Huey Gene Ragus, W. T. Black, Thomas Cook, Otto Womack, Percy Fallin and Erie Donohue. Honorary pallbearers were W. F. Derrick, J. Edwin Carlisle, R. D. Fryday, Spurgeon Walters, Gale Thompson and Buell Currie.

The family has requested that memorials be made to the Masonic Children's Home, Alexandria, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
