JAMES W. "MOUSE" CARTER

I was born on September 17, 1923. I entered the Service in January, 1943 and took Aviation Cadet training from May 1943 to January 1944 and graduated with Class 44-A from Napier Field, Dothan, Alabama. I was a pilot and flight leader with the 75th Fighter Squadron, completing 88 missions. I was stationed at Kweilin, Chihkiang, Loahwangping, Liuchow, Chienyang and Luliang. I am alive today because "Pappy" Parham shot a Jap Oscar off my ass about sunrise on August 19, 1944. The mission time was four hours and ten minutes. I was discharged in April of 1946.

I spent 25 years in the research business, ten of them with NASA. I have been in the vending and catering business since 1972. My six children and four grandchildren live nearby in Brentwood, Tennessee. I retired from the Tennessee Air National Guard as a Brigadier General.
