Samuel Green Abernathy was born on July 15, 1957 to the late Sylvester and Amanda Abernathy. He departed this life on July 7, 2019.

Sammy was educated in the Maury County School System.

Sammy enjoyed motorcycle riding, playing and joking with loved ones. He also enjoyed watching TV. His favorite TV shows were General Hospital, Chicago PD and western movies. Sammy lived for having a good time with family and friends.

One son, Samuel Green Abernathy Jr., preceded him in death.

Sammy leaves to cherish his memory a very devoted and loving wife of 41 years, Deora Elaine Abernathy; two devoted daughters, Jill Morris and Jennifer (Jodi) Owens of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; two devoted sons, Sammy Abernathy and Corbin Clack of Columbia, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six sisters, Mary (Eugene) McGill, Sandra Abernathy, Betty Abernathy, Edith (Charles) Bills, Colleen (Randy) Mathers (all of Columbia, Tenn.) and Daisy (Cedric) Matthews of Mount Pleasant, Tenn.; mother-in-law, Bobbie Jean Buchanan; uncle, Larry Maxwell; two sisters-in-law, Lottie Abernathy and Eloise Buchanan of Columbia, Tenn.; two brothers-in-law, William (Becky) Buchanan and Victor Buchanan of Columbia, Tenn.; two devoted friends, Dale Jackson and Pete Frierson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The body will lie in state Friday from 12 to 5 p.m. at Baxter Bros. Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bellafant Tabernacle Church in Columbia, with burial to follow at Rosemount Cemetery.
