A service for former Dayton resident Veta May Crafton of Prineville will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the McMinnville First Church of the Nazarene. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, McMinnville.
The chapel of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, McMinnville, will be open for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and noon to 4 p.m. Friday.
Mrs. Crafton died Jan. 16, 2002, in Prineville. She was 98.
She was born July 30, 1903, in Walla Walla, Wash., the daughter of William and Virginia May Miller. She was raised and educated in Oregon City.
She and Thomas "Dale" Crafton were married July 3, 1922, in Oregon City.
The couple later moved to Dayton, where they owned a small farm. They moved in 1948 to Fossil, where they owned and operated a large cattle ranch. They retired from ranching in 1957 and moved to Prineville. They later lived in Redmond.
Mr. Crafton died in 1985. Mrs. Crafton moved back to Dayton in 1986 and lived there until 1997, when she moved back to Prineville.
She attended the McMinnville First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed camping, fishing, sewing and travel.
Survivors include five sons, Clay Crafton and Clint Crafton, both of McMinnville, Jerry Crafton of Prineville, Wallace Crafton of Stanfield and Kalvin Crafton of Vancouver, Wash.; a daughter, Virginia Stevens of Dayton; 25 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita Giltner and two sisters, Lela Carrick and Gladius Miller.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1425 N.E. Irving St. #100, Portland, OR 97232.
Arrangements are under the direction of Prineville Funeral Home and Macy & Son, McMinnville.
