FLORENCE – Christopher Michael Collins, 38, died Saturday, July 6, 2019, after an accident.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
Michael was born in Florence, a son of Barbara Iris McAbee Collins and Darrell Ken Collins. He graduated with honors from Mayo High School for Math, Science, and Technology in Darlington in 1999, and from Clemson University in 2004. He was employed for many years with Ingles Stores, and most recently with the IGA in Quinby, SC. He was raised in Northgate Baptist Church, where he was a member.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Margaret McAbee, and paternal grandparents, Alnor and Johnnie Collins.
Survivors include his mother, Iris M. Collins of Florence; his father, Darrell K. Collins of Sebastian, FL; his sister, Kelly (Jackie) Tam, of New Zealand; and three nephews, Zavier and Julius Tam of New Zealand, and Cody Patches of Florence; special aunt, Jean Best, of Florence; and many cousins and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, P. O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
