She attended school at Northside In Fargo Texas. Her father died in 1964 of gangrene infection on his leg due to diabetes.
Sybil dropped out of school to marry Gene Fry and divorced 9 years later. After surviving the abusive relationship she moved to Borger and started dating the love of her life Jimmy D Reeves. They dated 3 years before getting married and moving in together on January 2, 1976. In 1980, Sybil weighed in at a hundred pounds and the doctor told her she was too fat and took her off dr peppers and snickers bars. 12 hours later they welcomed their daughter Cora Lee Reeves. Sadly she would be the only child. Jim died in 1985. Sybil never remarried or dated after that. A part of her soul died with him.
She carried on never the less working to clean houses and working in grocery stores to make ends meet before starting to work at the local Prison.
She weighed in at 75 pounds and qualified only if someone propt her up so she didn’t fall over from the kickback. She did hit the bulleye every time earring her the label of the new Annie Oakley.
She retired after 11 years.
She was a hard working woman who never took any government handouts preferring to live on her own terms.
She lived with her daughter the last years of her life and they moved to Lubbock the last two years of her life due to the horrible healthcare facilities in Dalhart. She hated to leave her home if 50 years behind but better healthcare was waiting.
Sybil and Cora moves to Lubbock and found much better healthcare which gave her a few more years and a peaceful journey to the other side to be with her beloved husband and family.
Sybil had COPD and due to doctors and hospital not sharing information and talking to each other...the medications used to treat her lungs also caused her to go into Afib which left in treated caused CHF. She had had an admiral heart rhythm her whole life that wasn’t. Problem until the end but no one communicated outside their networks so she went from having the heart of a teenager with 25% lung function to dead in 7 months time.
She is loved and missed by her daughter, her brother, Homer Lee and his wife Betty New of Vernon and their family, her sister Dorothy and her husband James Prock and their family, countless nieces and nephews and her best friend Dorothy Bishop of Dumas Texas and an honorary Daughter Lisa Marie (Kimber)? her husband Tim Pitts and their family.
