Known to have been born in the hamlet of Blanden, in the area of Oud-Heverlee, Belgium, the son of Xavier Bruneau and his wife Joséphine (née Dugauquier or "Daugauquier").
Marie Louise Le Devehat, known more often as Louise, was born in Nizio, a small town near Guern, close to Pontivy, in Brittany, France on February 4, 1887. She was the sixth child in a family of eleven of whom five died at a very young age. Louise was the daughter of Mathurin Le Devehat, a farmer from Guern and of Francoise Allanic, originally from Malguenac.
Louise arrived in Canada in 1905 with her parents, sisters and a brother: Marguerite, 'Marie, Mathurine and Mathurin. On June 7, 1910, she married Fernand Bruneau, a Belgian whom she met in St Claude. They settled in town where Fernand, a butcher by trade, practiced this work for six years and where the three older children were born: Felix, Helene and Raoul. Around 1916, they moved on a farm north of town where their son Louis was born. In 1919, Fernand bought the Le Devehat farm from Louise's parents located north east of his farm. This is where their children Blanche, Albert and Irene were born and this is where Fernand and Louise raised their seven children. All the children attended Parthenay School, a rural school located some two miles west of their farm.
Louise and Fernand gave their children a love of the land and they, in turn, all settled on land in St Claude and farmed up to the day they were old enough to retire.
In 1952, Louise and Fernand left their farm to settle in a new house built by their son Raoul in the town of St Claude. The farm was taken over by their youngest son, Albert, who in turn passed it on to his son Marc, who is still the owner.
Fernand passed away February 2, 1968. Louise passed away August 11, 1980, at the age of 93. Both rest in St Claude Cemetary.
