Debra Elaine Carter age 64 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday evening, July 2, 2019 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital in Smithville.

She was born July 5, 1954 to her parents, the late William Everett and Jimmie Lou Montgomery Cantrell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Junior, Donald, Frank, Robert, Jerry and Harold Cantrell, Virginia Ruth Mise and Wanda Fay Johnson and father-in-law, R.J. Carter.

She was a member of the Mt. Herman Baptist Church and a retired factory worker.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Jay Carter of Smithville; son, Ronald Joshua Carter of Smithville; Jayme Lynn (Nathan) Dowell of Smithville; grandchildren, Ryan Joshua Carter, Ethan Daniel Carter, Isaiah Dowell and Kylynn Dowell; siblings, Carlene (Ricky) Brown of Sparta, Diana (Jerome) Phifer of Texas, Barbara (Farrell) Henderson of Sparta and Melvin (Mary) Cantrell of Clinton; mother-in-law, Rubbie Carter of Smithville; sister-in-law, Lynn (Larry) Eaton of Smithville; special niece and nephew, Austin Cantrell and Rhonda Cantrell and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:PM Saturday, July 6, 2019 with Bros. Garry Caplinger and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday 11:AM until 8:PM and Saturday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
